These events occurred in the 18th century and concern Sarah Tillinghast, a young 19 year old girl that became one of the Rhode Island Vampires after her death. The particularities of these cases are that they are all your women that died at the beginning of their journey in life. A total number of 6 such cases were registered, ranging from 1799 [starting with this case] and 1892 [ending with Mercy Brown].
Sarah enjoyed reading poetry, spending her days wandering in the small graveyard where Revolutionary soldiers lay. She was the oldest daughter of a renowned farming family that lived a perfect life in Exeter.
One day, upon returning from one of her visits to the graveyard, she started to symptom a strange disease and was forced to retire to her room. The fever consumed her in a matter of weeks.
A couple of weeks after the burial, James [Sarah`s younger brother] came down to breakfast looking pale, shivering and complaining of a weight on his chest. He claimed that Sarah had come to him and sat on his bed. Sarah and James’ parents thought it was nothing but his grief playing tricks with his mind.
It didn`t take long until the boy followed his sister to the grave.
Sadly this was only the beginning because two more children died, both of them claiming before that they were visited by their elder sister at night. This brought horror into the life of the family, for this could only mean that Sarah had turned into a vampire and was returning from beyond the grave to pray on her living kin.
The father was forced to take action when his wife – Honour fell ill herself.
The head of the family, aided by his farmhand, Caleb, went into the cemetery and dug up the bodies of his children to confirm if one of them was the vassal for an evil spirit.
The four that were buried after here were in different stages of decay, but Sarah, even though she had spent a little over 18 months in the ground, was intact and without any sign of decomposition – just as if she was sleeping.
At this point her father cut out her bleeding heart. It is said her body gushed with blood. The organ was burnt to ash and Honour is said to have miraculously recovered.
Note: I also found references to a prophetic dream the father is supposed to have had before Sarah`s death. In this dream it was shown to him that half of his crop would be destroyed. In local folklore [in the region of Exeter, Rhode Island] the total number of children killed by Sarah is on 6, not 4. By adding her we would get a total number of 7, therefore half of the 14 children the family had. It is also believed that a child was ill at the same time as his mother and that he couldn`t be saved.
