§ Asia §
“The jumping corpse” was the Chinese version of a vampire, the main difference being that it would pray on the life essence, not necessarily on the blood of flesh.
The Chinese vampires also bare the name of “Jiang Shi”, dead with green skin, covered in fungus, that return from beyond to kill humans by sucking their blood.
In Malaysia roamed the demons Penanggalan, Pontianak and Lagsuir, while in the Filipinas we find Mandurugo [those that feed on blood] and Manananggal [those that fragment themselves].
In Japan we find mentioned Nukebuki, a creature who`s head can fly on its own and hunts people at night.
§ Africa §
All across Africa there existed beliefs about ancient vampires.
If in the west of the continent people talked about Asanbosam, a demon with metal teeth that lived in trees and attacked anyone who dared to venture near his lair, in the eastern part there lived an entity called ~Impundulu~. It would take human form and feed on the flesh and blood of the mortals.
In Madagascar the old legends would speak of Ramanga, an immortal creature that would hunt down people so that it could feast in their blood.
Adze was a spirit that would posses the bodies of the shamans of the Ewe tribe. It would take that human form to prevent being caught. Other than that it would get from one place to another as a firefly and it would especially feed on the blood of children.
On the coast we find Obayifo, a living vampire that had control over crops and could be both female or male. At night it would leave its body to feed – preferring small children.
According to legend the old Egyptian goddess ~Sekhmet~ gained the lust for blood after she massacred people and was killed only after she was tricked into drinking alcohol colored as blood.
