There have been a lot of announcements made regarding vampire series or movies, however so few of them panned out it may look as if the fascination for the seductive bloodsuckers have started to fade, sizzling into fanfiction and online novels.
One such example is that of a reboot / reimagining of “Buffy the vampire slayer” that was confirmed to be in the works back in 2018 with Joss Whedon returning to take part in the creative process.
During the influx of news that surrounded the announcement we were also given a possible direction that the storyline would take in the sense that it was being set up as a sequel.
Cast-wise, we know that they were looking to focus on diversity and it was even confirmed that the lead would be black. While several actresses expressed an interest, it was Monica Owusu-Breen (you might know her from “Midnight, Texas”) who seemed to be the most put forward by Disney once they purchased Fox.
As to the original cast, there has been silence from some of the supporting actors and you never know when dealing with a sequel that has so much material to work with.
Sarah Michelle Geller and David Boreanaz have declared that they would not be interested in this endeavor after so many years have passed.
Because of the recent accusation of abuse of power and inappropriate behavior that came to light I am sure I am not the only one who is considering that the project might be canceled – even if no such announcement was made.
Time will tell…
† Vampire News
In March of 2005 news broke out of attacks by a vampire against the Grecu family in Cernele, Craiova. In present day it is actually annexed to the city and is located in Dolj, Romania [the district of Oltenia].
The events had been going on for the better half a year and things seams to escalate so the members of the family decided to investigate.
Both the authorities and the priests were informed of what was going on.
Although the family had cut itself out of the electrical system [for reasons unspecified] the panel was frequently tampered with, the outlets and switches were found burnt and rocks would fall on and in the house breaking things.
It was concluded that a dead relative, Irina Ciorobea, who had been buried well over 20 years ago, was to blame for the paranormal activity surrounding the home.
The family decided to open up the grave on the 12th of March 2005 and the local priest was called to do a blessing ceremony.
It was assumed that 20 years ago at the funeral the old priest must have skipped a couple of prayers and that`s why the girl became a vampire.
All was well for an given period of time, when the oldest son – Adrian Grecu – claimed that he was communicating with the ghost of the woman and that she was still around the house despite the family holding special masses.
The trust about the supposed vampire came out only when a film producer found out about the case and wanted to do a documentary.
He obtained permission from the family to plant cameras in various locations all over the house, but did not disclose the exact places where he installed them.
The images he shot on some of them were a shock to the community!
The young 12 year old was bringing stones into the home and smashed different objects making sure he wasn`t seen on the cameras he knew about. Also, he simulated being dragged across the floor by ghosts and scratched himself on the back [in some articles it was reported that he cut himself with a knife but it seams to hard for a child to do so since it is also specified that the wounds were on the back]. He would then cry out for his parents alleging that the dead woman attacked him.
The explanation satisfied all the parties involved except for the parents.
They were convinced that something was influencing the boy or possessing him.
The young Adrian was supposed to have been submitted to a psychiatric control but since the interest of the media ended when it all came about I couldn`t find any follow-ups. If there ever were any it`s most likely that those articles were deleted since they didn`t draw any traffic.

The following events took place in the village of Tupanari in the district of Vlasenicki [to locate it on the map of Bosnia and Herzegovina simply go NE of Sarajevo]
An old peasant called Paja Tomic had died on the 9th of April 1923.
His wife Cvija complained that her dead husband returned to the house at night and had become a vampire. But apparently the widow wasn’t believed so quickly by the rest of the villagers and her nightmares continues for another full month until her sons Stevo and Krsto confirmed their father’s return from the grave.
The villagers gathered and decided that the vampire had to be destroyed so the dead man’s corpse was taken out of the grave, pierced with a hawthorn stake, and then cremated. The remaining bones were reburied.
Please take notice at the fact that we have a missing part here. We have no description of how the corpse was discovered upon unearthing. Usually we are given details and signs as to convince us that the deceased really was a vampire and that the villagers were in their right to proceed to the elimination of the undead.
In this case it seams that the family`s testimony was enough to get a “conviction”
NOTE: You will find a couple of other sites that give you details on this but I would like to make a clarification. The supposed vampire died in April of 1923! Some other authors give you the date of 23 May because that is when an article on the matter was published in a local newspaper.
The case can be found in “The Vampires: A casebook” by Alan Dundes and you may also find a transcript of the news article above mentioned.
